David Sloan

He has written for National Geographic and is often called "the next Hemingway," though this refers to his drinking and penchant for death more often than his writing. Sloan is the author of more than 20 books about Key West and the Florida Keys. His popular satire column "Key West 101" was featured each week in The Key West Citizen and he is a featured food writer with The Key West Weekly. Pennsylvania born and Texas raised, Sloan worked in the hospitality industry with top chefs through college, managed cruise ships, then quit his job and moved to Key West in 1996 and started Haunted Key West Tours. David has been featured on The History Channel, Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, Food Network and more. He co-founded The Key Lime Festival and co-produces the Cow Key Channel Zero K Bridge Run. Unlike other authors, David has a blue and gold macaw that lives under his bed. His books are easy reads and people dig them. His unique perspective on the Keys has entertained millions.
