Lucy Hawk Key West Artist
I am a Key West based artist who creates hand cut paper artworks. Much of my subject matter is inspired by the natural side of the Florida Keys, quirky island life, the local architecture and the colors of our coastal environment.
My working studio is at Sacred Space Gallery, an interactive studio & gallery space that carries artwork by all local female artists. I founded & opened Sacred Space with Barbara Sage of Whimsy Key West in August 2020. Our gallery is located in the heart of Old Town Key West at 529 Southard Street.
My passion for exploring has taken me around the world; I lived in India right after college and later I returned to Asia where I traveled non-stop for over six months. Although I do not live abroad anymore, I am always looking for new places to visit and wonderful sites to see.
My love for nature led me to obtain my captain's license and work in the outdoor industry for many years. This industry ultimately led me to Key West, Florida where I currently live. I always say that my two passions in life are the outdoors and creating art. I jumped from working on the water to pursuing my art business full time in September 2019.
I have always enjoyed creating art but it was never more than a hobby for most of my life. I took every elective art class that was offered in school and enough random art classes in college to receive a minor. It sounds crazy but selling art as my job was never something I dreamed of doing. That being said, I am so incredibly glad that I gave my work a chance back in 2019. Creating and sharing my art is so rewarding and I am so grateful to be able to do what I love.
